Plan It Native 2025 is bigger and better than ever! We are offering two full days to learn about native plants, designing and managing native plant gardens, and the flora/fauna connections we all appreciate. Mark your calendars for February 11-12, 2025. Keynote speakers Nancy Lawson, author of The Humane Gardener, and Doug Ladd will inspire us and teach us something new.

With 21 concurrent sessions, attendees will still have plenty of time to socialize in our exhibit hall, enjoy lunch breaks, and attend the Tuesday evening social hour.

Can’t wait for February? Register now and add a Halfway To Plan It Native Field Trip ticket! Field Trips are scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Choices include:

  • Prairie and Woodland Restoration Tour with Habitat Architects, near DeSoto, Kansas

Visit an approximately 250-acre private land restoration that includes numerous habitat types in different stages of restoration.  Led by Shannon Tyree and the Habitat Architects team.

  • Prairie Birthday Farm

Tours of the farm are an educational experience and include visiting multiple production areas with detailed discussions of the restoration of the soil, the plants growing, and the related opportunities and challenges of many aspects of growing food. Led by Linda Hezel, Prairie Birthday Farm.

  • Shawnee Mission Environmental Science Lab Field Trip

This is your chance to get in and see a restored prairie, woodland, and farm typically reserved for the school district’s faculty and staff!  Learn about student learning opportunities in the lab and enjoy a naturalist tour as well. Led by Cydney Ross and P.J. Born of Deep Roots, KC.

  • Private Artist Tour with Julie Farstad

Artist Julie Farstad (a speaker at PIN 2024 and host of our July Habitat Garden Tour in Marlborough) will give a guided tour and discussion of her solo exhibit at a gallery in the Crossroads neighborhood. Entitled “BeWilder,” the show features new paintings of native plants meditating on their beauty, mystery and restorative power.
