Deep Roots and Johnson County Stormwater’s Contain The Rain program to help Johnson County residents plant more native trees. Visit Deep Roots September 13 plant sale in Prairie Village and pick up a voucher for 50% off native shrubs and trees from Forrest Keeling (up to $150 off!). Vouchers are limited and available on a first-come, first served basis.
Deep Roots Free Tree Giveaway is sold out! Two-hundred residents have already registered for these trees and have pledged to plant and care for them to support wildlife and stormwater management. Registrants can pick up their trees at the Deep Roos Native Plant Sale from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, September 13. Tree species include Sugar Maple, Tulip Poplar, Black Gum, Swamp White Oak and Redbud.

This program is available to Johnson County residents only.

  • Trees will be distributed to registrants at the Deep Roots Native Plant Sale at Prairie Village City Hall, 7700 Mission Rd, from 10am-1pm
  • Johnson County Stormwater will be on site, distributing limited vouchers for 50% off of additional native tree and shrub purchases from our urban forestry partners, Forrest Keeling Nursery.
  • Restricted to Johnson County residents, limited to one tree per household
  • Five species will be offered on a first come first served basis: Sugar Maple, Tulip Poplar, Black Gum, Swamp White Oak, and Redbud. All stock is 3-gallon, root pruned trees, sizes will vary
