Birds and Blooms Guided Naturalist Walk Big Bull Creek Park

June 13 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am CDT
$5

Lace up your boots and grab your binoculars! Enjoy a guided naturalist walk at Big Bull Creek Park as we celebrate summer blooms and native birds that depend on them. Eastern Meadowlarks, Grasshopper Sparrows, Field Sparrows, Lark Sparrows, and Northern Bobwhites are often seen here. Big Bull Creek Park is currently the largest in the Johnson County Parks and Recreation District system at 2,060 acres and is known for its nature-based experiences, habitat restoration, and pollinator conservation.

We’ll also visit the newly installed permanent sculptures “Picnic” by DKLA Design. Featuring giant birds and insects, the sculptures celebrate the park’s restored prairie habitat and rich ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to appreciate Johnson County’s commitment to art, nature, and community!

This leisurely walk is open to all experience levels. It will take place on paved and natural trails. We recommend you wear weather-appropriate clothing including sturdy, close-toed shoes/hiking boots, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray. Also bring a reusable water bottle. An e-mail will be sent out the week of with parking and meet up info.

Advanced registration is required. Please contact maddie@deeprootskc.org with questions.
