Art and Prairie Walk at Kill Creek Park

July 22, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 10:30 am CDT

Tour the prairie and art installation at Kill Creek Park with Deep Roots and Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department. This treasured area includes prime examples of managed prairies, one of our most endangered habitats in the world. Artist and naturalist, Cydney Ross will lead this tour and discuss the inspiration behind the collaborative sculpture “Restoring Refuge”. We’ll also stop to view (and nerd out!) about the native flora and fauna that call the prairie home.

This site has paved and crushed gravel pathways and will require attendees to walk approximately 1 mile total. We will also walk off-trail to view certain species and aspects of the art installation. Please contact cydney@deeprootskc.org if you have questions about accessibility. Signed liability waiver required.

Participants will be responsible for transportation to and from Kill Creek Park. Details about parking will be emailed to registrants. Water bottle, sunglasses, hat, bugspray, and sunscreen are recommended.

This field trip is part of our new efforts to bring personalized educational experiences to native plant enthusiasts like you. Space is limited and registration required here.
