Deep Roots knows the value of keeping
children in school until they are
able to graduate from high school. The Deep Roots Namibia focus
is on talented high school students, grades 8 to 12, who are at risk of
stopping their
education prematurely because of financial hardships. By awarding
scholarships to these at-risk youth, Deep Roots enables them to finish
their secondary education.
Deep Roots Namibia focuses on
- Girls, who are more
likely to leave school prematurely. Approximately two-thirds of Deep
Roots scholars are girls.
- Children who have demonstrated
academic ability, through strong grades and teacher
recommendations.
- Children in rural communities,
where poverty is widespread.
Deep Roots Namibia works in cooperation
with the University
of
Namibia Foundation (UNAMF) to ensure that donations reach students
most in need throughout the country. UNAMF is a charitable
trust collaborating with the University of Namibia (UNAM) to encourage
corporate and individual partnerships to enable university growth and
increase the educational opportunities for UNAM students. Our
partnership is based upon the joint recognition that education should
be possible for all of Namibia's youth.
